Random pics from December

I just realized that I did the random fun stuff from January and not from December. So we're back tracking a little bit here, cuz we certainly don't want to leave anything out!

Lacey and Baxter getting cozy in a box. Baxter was very obedient to get in the box with the little menace. Though, you can see, Lacey has Perry the Platypus wrapped up nice and cozy and was being very gentle and tender since he is...

Baby Jesus Perry. It was actually very sweet how she wrapped him up and rocked him in her chair...not like the crazy kicking and throwing and squeezing that Perry usually has to put up with.

Moments before this picture was taken I told Baxter that he was NOT a lap dog. He sure showed me. Silly dog. And I stand by my original statement.

And Amy turned 4 months old in December. I know it's February now and she's 2 months old...but we'll get to that soon. Maybe.

Some random pictures from January

When we went to the dentist in January, we came away with this lovely carnation. Unfortunately, the flower part was not attached to the stem. I don't know if we got it that way, or if Lacey broke it in the car or something. I was going to just throw it away, but I couldn't bring myself to, so I just left it on the table. And then a short time later, I found this. I thought it was pretty silly.

Lacey and Daddy sitting at Lacey's little table doing a puzzle together. I thought it was sweet.

Awwww. Sisters.

Tribute to Perry

Perry is Lacey's special friend. She has to have him to go to bed (and for that reason, he is not allowed to leave the house), and he always turns up in the silliest places. Here, he's in Amy's exersaucer. Every night before bed, we say, "Hey, where's Perry?" And when we find him, we say, "Oh, there you are, Perry."

My reasoning for even making this post is that there were so many pictures of Perry the Platypus on my camera (courtesy of Lacey) when I went to format it that I figured I should do SOMETHING. And, you know, Perry the Platypus will be a cherished memory of Lacey's childhood.

Lacey dances

I love this little girl so much. She has such a personality. In this videos, she's dancing to "Whatcha Doin'" form an episode of Phineas and Ferb. (Thanks to Aunt Sarah, we now get to listen to the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack every day, several times.) I only caught it for a few seconds here, but she likes to put on her pretty skirts and stand in front of some glass (in this case, the fire place) and shake her hips, and I think watch her skirt sway. She's not actually looking in the glass here, and maybe that's why I didn't catch much of it, but it's still so funny. Usually she'll do it longer. She's so entertaining.

Christmas 2011

The long-awaited Christmas post! I could make excuses about the tardiness, but I think that it's really just because I'm terrible at keeping up with the blog. But I do it anyway, for posterity.

So, Christmas 2011. We were lucky enough to have my sister and brother here on Christmas morning, and were joined by Phil's parents in the afternoon for dinner and togetherness.

Here's Lacey when Daddy went to get her up . We got her up early so that we could all video chat with Grandma and Grandpa Welker and Uncle Ben in South Carolina before they had to go to church. I think that that is a Christmas tradition that we need to keep up. It's almost like being together, right?

Here's a picture of our new living room--new because of the couch. The couch was a "gift" from my uncle. Since they weren't use it anymore, they gave it to us. It's so nice to have furniture in our front room now! There's some place to sit besides the kitchen table!

And Lacey coming out see what's up. Time to open presents! The vaccum is not new. It just happened to be there because it didn't get put away after we vacuumed the night before.

Lacey in the tutu that Aunt Sarah made her. So cute! She's such a girl.

Lacey and the fun little ceramic tea set from Aunt Sarah, and her new Tinkerbell pajamas. I thought that the pajamas were going to be way too big because they're size 4. Nope, they fit perfectly. They may be a teensy bit big, but that just means that they'll last through the winter.

Baxter and his present from his Grandpa Tyhurst. He needed Virginia Tech shirt to wear.

Phil's favorite gift! I may just be saying that to make myself feel good... It's a t-shirt blanket made from his old metal band t-shirts that he never wears anymore but doesn't want to get rid of. I knew it would be ok to make it since we talked about it a LONG time ago and he thought it was a good idea. He had forgotten that conversation by Christmas, though, so it was a surprise. :)

Christmess.

Brad and Baxter snuggling amid the mess that is Christmas morning.

The girls got these adorable matching dresses from Grandma Welker. So cute!

Amy and Grandpa Bobo.

We had a lovely Christmas dinner of ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and possibly something else that I don't remember, and crock pot chocolate cake and Marie Callendar's apple pie for dessert. It was delicious. And I got out my crystal goblets for the second time ever.

All in all, it was a wonderful Christmas. It was exciting to have our first Christmas in our new home, and have so much family around us. It's such a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
