As parents. Phil and I have both had broken bones (Phil broke his arm once, and I've broken my arm 3 times).
But as for Lacey, this is the first. Lacey was playing No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed (I guess) one morning while I was in the bathroom. Then there was a thud and a scream of "ouchie!" and an upset child that not even cartoons and chocolate chips could console. Well, they did console her for a while, but she kept coming back to me in tears, asking for kisses on her arm. Her arm didn't look broken or swollen, but I could tell there was something wrong. And sure enough, the doctor confirmed that her arm was broken. So on went the splint (with much protest from a very upset child--good thing we good Daddy with us so that he could hold her down). And then back we went a few days later for the cast, which required the use of a papoose--basically she had to be strapped to a board with velcro so that she couldn't move or wiggle, since she was being completely uncooperative. Not that I can blame her for that. But actually once she was in the thing she calmed down and just watched what the doctor was doing pleasantly. She's adapted really well to having the cast on her arm. She even willingly holds out her arm for me to put a plastic bag over it before her bath. Little children really are amazingly adaptable. She has to have the cast until the end of June.

Happy Birthday Lacey!
Lacey turned 2 years old on May 8. It happened to coincide with Mother's Day this year, so we had lots to celebrate that day! I thought a lot about my first mother's day 2 years ago, when I got to bring Lacey home from the hospital, and of course about the two days before that when my little angel came into the world.
To celebrate, we invited our Bobo family over for waffles and cake and ice cream. It was quite a crew in our little apartment, but I loved it, and Lacey loved it even more. Nothing could have made her happier on her special day than running around with her cousins.
I know it's hard to tell from this picture, but one of the best games of the evening was Make Lacey Laugh Her Head Off. It was pretty easy to do, and these two were pretty good at it.
Waffles for dinner! She really is enjoying them, I don't know what the silly face is all about.
Time to open presents! With a little bit of help, she got the hang of this part fast.
She loved the sparkle tissue paper (I think we still have sparkles hanging around places). And she had to stop and read every single book before moving on to the next. She got a lot of books, which is good, because she loves to read.
Here's the monkey cake that I made. I think it's pretty good for a first attempt at decorating a cake. It was delicious, too.
Dr. Lacey, checking on Daddy's health.
Say cheese!! Johnnie likes to take pictures, and Lacey likes to pose for them. An adorable combination.
Well, needless to say, the past two years have been full of joy and frustration, lots of ups and downs, but mostly it's been ups and joys. Lacey is such a happy child, so ready to love anyone she sees. She runs and runs and never stops until Mommy enforces nap time or bed time. She's doing everything a two-year-old should be able to do, and more. She's such a little smarty pants, it's difficult for me to keep up with her sometimes. But that really just keeps life interesting, right? We're so lucky to have Lacey as a part of our family, and we're looking to celebrating her many, many more times!

Afternoon at the Manti temple
We took a trip down to Manti so that Phil could attend his friend's sealing. I wanted to go visit my grandparents there, but they were out of town that afternoon. Lacey and I decided to go anyway, to keep Daddy company on the trip, since Daddy was not so excited about making the drive all by himself. Lacey and I got to walk around the temple grounds while Daddy was inside. We got some nice pictures along the way.
3 year anniversary
April 12 was 3 years since we were sealed for time and eternity. It's been a fantastic 3 years. We've been blessed with so much, and continue to be every day.
That Tuesday, I was lying down for a nap in the middle of the afternoon, as I usually do, and I heard Phil try to sneak in. It's pretty much impossible to do, since the place is so small. But I caught him trying to sneak in roses. For the past two years, he's gotten me the number of flowers equal to the number of years we've been married. But this year, he said, the single flowers didn't look pretty, so he got me a dozen. He instructed me to go take a nap while he divided the flowers in to 3s and placed them around the kitchen. He's such a sweetie. I stuck them back together since we didn't really have a vase small enough to hold just three flowers. Look how pretty! The best part of the whole thing was Phil trying to be sneaky. :)

BoBo baptism
At the beginning of April, we had the pleasure of attending the baptism of Lacey's cousin Eli. It was a beautiful ceremony, and it was wonderful to see everyone that was there. It's always wonderful to see these children making good decisions so early in life.
Lacey made her way to the baby seat in the corner as soon as we got there. Silly monkey.
Grandmother and Grandpa Bobo with the grandkids.
It looks like Lacey's scolding, but I'm pretty sure she's pointing. Either way, it's a cute picture.
Lacey seems to think that she can eat off of anyone's plate. I guess that's because Mommy lets her eat off of her plate. She kept stealing Uncle Ken's grapes.
Water. And my little cutie.
Lacey had so much fun playing with the kids, and with Grandmother, as you can see.
Random things from the past few months
It's been a while! I've been wanted to update the blog for a while, but just haven't had the time/energy. Work+kid+pregnancy=one tired mommy! So I decided that I just need to buckle down and do it!
Yes, I've started working a few hours from home. I'm editing a textbook that someone wrote for the company that Phil works for. It's challenging, but I'm really enjoying it. It's fun to actually put my education to use, for a little while, anyway.
Phil has finished up his latest semester of class, and we're enjoying some time as a family without school and homework and stuff.
Lacey is just as happy and active as ever. She's learning new things every day, and she loves it so much. She's too darn smart for her own good, that's for sure. She knows her letters, numbers (she counts to 13), shapes, and we're working on colors now. She's so excited and enthusiastic about everything, it's exhausting. She is so sweet and loves everyone she sees. She says "Hello. Goodbye!" and the blows kisses to anyone who passes by when we're playing outside. It's hard to believe that she's turning 2 this Sunday! It's been, and continues to be, such a blessing to be her Mommy.
BoBo baby #2 is growing big and strong inside Mommy, and hasn't caused too many troubles yet. We found out a couple weeks ago that this baby is another girl, and we're so excited for Lacey to have a little sister. She's so good with little babies, and I know that she's going to be Mommy's little helper.
Here's a few fun random pictures from the past few months.
Stay tuned for more! I'm determined to get caught up!

My mom sent me this maternity shirt when I found out I was expecting. Lacey loves to put it on and run around in it. It's a big risque on her, but she's so but. :)
Lacey playing video games. She doesn't do much but make her character jump, but it's cute the way she gets so excited about it. This particular game has Donald Duck and Goofy in it, and she loves to watch Daddy play it.
I just think that this is a cute picture. She's got smoothie all over her face, smoothie with a bit of spinach mixed in with it. It may sound weird, but it's delicious and you can't taste any spinach in it. If you can get past the green color, it's pretty good!
Lacey potty training Perry the platypus. If only she'd potty train herself. Oh well.
Lacey the rock star.
Stay tuned for more! I'm determined to get caught up!

Just a few things
January has been a pretty good month for us. Nothing special, but for the most part we've been healthy and happy. Phil started class again and his workload is not as heavy as last semester. And that's nice. Lacey is getting bigger and better than ever. She's so smart and clever. Here's a picture of her sitting on a stool eating an apple. I know, not exciting, but it illustrates how much of a big girl she's becoming.

Last Monday was pretty eventful. It started with visiting teaching in the morning. Lacey went with me because there were lots of toys and even a little girl just Lacey's age to play with. Then Mommy had an appointment, so Lacey stayed home with a babysitter. Like most children, Lacey goes a little crazy when friends come over and has to put on a show. I think she ran around in circles much of the time. Then that evening, Daddy came home early and played with Lacey for a long time.
In this video, Lacey and Daddy are playing little plastic shape blocks, throwing them in their bucket and saying, "Spike!" For some reason, Lacey thought that this was hilarious and cracked up every time Daddy did it. And then of course there's the moment she sees a camera pointed at her and she says "cheese" and squints her eyes.
She was pretty darn tired after all this excitement. She laid down on the floor and covered up with a blanket. I think she was trying to tell me something. She has NEVER done this before.
So we got her ready for bed and she went and sat in her little cradle basket and read a book. I just thought it was cute.
Proof that Daddy helps with the dishes sometimes. In this case, Lacey also wanted to help, so she got to "dry" the dishes.
And finally, Lacey is going to be a big sister in August! I'm currently 10 weeks along, and, lucky for me, have had very very little sickness.
