Lacey dances
A little bit of nonsense
The obligatory baby-in-the-dishwasher picture. I make more of an effort to keep the dishwasher closed now.
Lacey has stopped taking naps. These days, I usually just let her watch cartoons in the afternoon while Amy naps for a little bit of "quiet time," which I think is good for Mommy and for Lacey. At first, she would sometimes fall asleep, and end up in some funny positions. Now she doesn't fall asleep unless she's super tired, and even then I don't let her sleep very long because naps mean that she'll be up past midnight. I'm sad to say goodbye to naps, but it's nice to have an early bedtime for both girls.
A birthday visit from Grandmother and Grandpa Bobo
On the Saturday after Lacey's birthday, we got a visit from Grandpa and Grandmother Bobo. We had a good time eating dinner and opening presents and having cake and ice cream.
We also invited our good friends the Hos.
It's a Perry the Platypus cake. Grandma Welker made the little Perrys.
Grandpa and Grandmother always bring books, and the books are always delightful.

Lacey's Birthday
Lacey turned 3 last month! It's pretty hard to believe. She's so darn smart--she knows her alphabet and letter sounds, she can count to 30, count to 100 by 10s, she speaks very well and coherently (most of the time), AND she is FINALLY using the potty! Mostly. I'm getting tired of cleaning poo out of panties, but she's even getting better there, too.
This is, by far, the funnest and most exasperating stage so far. She had so much fun playing and pretending, but she also is learning about limits and how far she can push Mommy before she gets disciplined. She's so sweet, too, though, and it's those moments that make it worth it. It's interesting to see her interacting with Amy. They actually like to play together, until Lacey gets too rough, since she doesn't seem to realize how small Amy is and that she can't play the same. But I can already see those two being friends (and, you know, wanting to kill each other).
But anyway. We had a little tea party for her birthday, just 4 little girls with dress ups, sparkly crowns and necklaces, and pb sandwiches, fruit, and strawberry cup cakes. And raspberry lemonade. Mostly I just let the girls just do what they want. I think that the funnest part was the little girls pouring lemonade from the little tea pot into their little tea cups. One of the girls gave her a little bubble gun that they had tons of fun playing with as well.
We had more cupcakes after dinner with daddy, and Lacey got to blow out the "iddy biddy fire."
Mommy and Daddy got her a bike this year, and she has lot of fun riding around in the garage with it. I've had to park my car on the street so that she can have a level place to practice riding. She straps her Perry into the little seat on the back and takes him for rides.
We also had fudgesicles. Though, my favorite part of this picture is Amy grinning in the background. :)
